In ancient China, the tortoise was a symbol of longevity and also represented wealth. It was listed as one of the four lucky animals. In the article of  "The Stories of Turtles"  by Chu Shao Sun; "Remember: you can get the frame from the turtle, the property will be returned, the family will be rich." Therefore,  the ancients used jade turtles to make accessories.

This jade turtle has a perforation to the back of the neck, which is used as a pendant.
